Digital Access, Inc. announces the release of Digital Vault, a new online storage service that uses digital rights and government approved encryption to prevent unauthorized access to customer’s files.
Online storage has gained popularity because it lets users store backup copies of their files at a remote location in case of a computer crash. Another advantage is the ability to access files from various locations. However, storage services available today fail to properly address one major issue – security. In many cases, files are stored without encryption or digital rights to protect them from unauthorized access.
Digital Vault uses a technology developed by Securit-e-Doc, Inc. called SITT (Secure Information Transport Technology) to protect electronic information. SITT protects each file with 128-bit encryption before it is ever sent over the Internet to be stored. The encrypted files are sent to the server over a standard SSL connection for added security. Once the files reach the server they are stored in a 256-bit encrypted file system ensuring they can only be accessed by those with authorization. SITT is in use today by government agencies including NASA and the U.S. Postal Service.
The level of security that Digital Vault offers enables online storage to be used in ways never thought possible before. Businesses can securely maintain off-site backup copies of contracts, agreements and financial statements. Business travelers can safely access confidential files without keeping them on a laptop or CD that could easily be lost, stolen or damaged while in transit. Consumers can use Digital Vault as an online safe-deposit box. Important documents and records can be stored and retrieved from virtually anywhere in the event the original is not readily available or has been destroyed.
Digital Vault provides customers with electronic forms to help record pertinent information that may be needed in an emergency. Forms are available to record medical history, vehicle information, warranties, personal property inventory and credit card information.
The Digital Vault servers are hosted in a state-of-the-art Data Center with a high speed Internet connection, biometric controlled access, dual power feeds from separate power grids, UPS battery power and backup power generator. Backups are run nightly and taken off-site weekly.
