Company description:: Is your email address listed on any web page? If so, it is being collected by data-mining robots that travel the internet, following link after link, looking for email addresses. This is a signifigant cause of spam in your inbox.
These robots find email addresses in a variety of locations and formats, the most common being "mailto:" links that direct an email program to create a new message for the designated recipient. Robots also commonly look in web page contact forms. If there is a
form on a web site that submits to your email address, most likely your email address is in the code for that page.
There are many simple steps that can be done to "hide" or "cloak" your email address from the robots. Some techniques include unicode, javascript text display and javascript pop-up pages. Most forms can also be converted so that your email address is not visible to the robots.
Ask your web designer how to avoid leaving your email address vulnerable for the taking!
