SATEEK mobile satellite platform has been further developed to provide additional communication benefits to emergency service crews at the scene of a major incident.
SATSEEK is a mobile vehicle mounted satellite broadband platform that offers the ability to locate and lock onto any satellite the operator selects where the vehicle is within the satellite footprint. Once the satellite is located, the dedicated broadband service allows high-speed Internet and file transfer, essential for delivering large files such as contingency plans or building schematics directly to the scene.
With the added integration of EROS the Emergency Remote Observation System, which is a portable wireless video monitoring and recording system, visual observation, monitoring or surveillance can be carried out. Images captured on the scene may then be transmitted back via SATSEEK and the Internet to headquarters or any other location.
EROS consists of a portable remote unit offering video or thermal imaging for viewing from the Control Unit or via the Internet. The Control Unit offers functional control of Pan, Tilt, Zoom and Focus features as well as camera selection.
This application is ideal for video imaging at the scene of an incident or, by utilising the thermal imaging camera, to detect the heat source of a fire. Thermal imaging also provides excellent surveillance viewing during the hours of darkness.
Additional features are Voice over IP services, allowing voice communications over the Internet link. This benefits the emergency services in providing a secondary voice communication system in areas where mobile phone and radio communications prove to be ineffective due to location or failure.
